Infant Curriculum

The Infant Environment follows each child’s unique rhythm and development. Rather than expecting infants to fit into a set schedule, we carefully observe and respond to each child’s individual needs, interests, and readiness. Our daily routines and experiences are guided by the child, supporting growth in a respectful and responsive way.

While we follow each child’s natural development, there are foundational areas we support when infants are alert, engaged, and ready to learn. These experiences are introduced thoughtfully and at each child’s own pace.

In our Infant Environment, we support children as they:

  • Develop fine and gross motor skills
  • Coordinate eye and hand movements (reaching & grasping)
  • Encourage independence
  • Build security within their relationships
  • Teach communication with our without using words
  • Teach child how to express feelings appropriately
  • Develop strategies for solving problems
  • Teach care and concern for others
  • Teach respect for self, others and environment
  • Develop self-help skills (such as hold their own bottles and feed themselves)
  • Helping them stay involved in their own diaper changes by keeping eye-contact and verbalizing the steps of the process
  • Develop self-soothing skills
  • Take nature walks and other outside activities

Additionally, primary care givers create individual lesson plans for each child in their group once a month. All pictures and documented learning, including monthly plans and simple assessments are stored in each child’s portfolio. Pictures and daily communications are also sent to parents through our communication app.
